Alumni Association

Recruiting Students

Each year the Faculty Committee on Admissions faces the task of reviewing up to 1,000 applications from individuals who are remarkably qualified in terms of their incoming academic credentials and life experiences. The law school typically admits between 230 to 260 students every year. Many of these students are also admitted to some of the nation's top law schools, yet many choose to come to BYU because of the great tradition which you have helped us to establish. Over the years, our alumni have been a tremendous help to us as we set out to recruit the most qualified candidates.

Once the Admissions Committee has admitted an applicant, the admissions staff will work with our Giving Committee to match admitted students with alumni recruiters based on criteria such as personal relationships, geographical location or practice interest. Typically, each alum will receive information about 1 to 3 admitted students and our admissions staff will provide any other information which the alum feels would be helpful in recruiting the admitted student. Alumni then make personal contact with their assigned recruits to answer questions they may have about the benefits of receiving their legal education at BYU. You, as a BYU Law graduate, are in a unique position to offer candid answers about your own choice to come to BYU, your experiences here as a law student and how BYU Law has benefited you in your professional life.
